An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an accomplished General Manager and Executive Chef professional couple to take leading roles in the development and operation of a spectacular 11-bedroom estate as a luxury exclusive-use destination. The property will operate as a commercial hospitality business, welcoming predominantly HNW and UHNW private clients, alongside corporate groups seeking an exceptional setting for executive retreats, team weekends, training events and private gatherings.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a formative stage. The successful couple will not simply inherit an established operation; they will play an important part in developing the property’s offering, establishing its reputation and contributing to the creation of a commercially successful luxury hospitality business.
We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate tangible previous success in developing, launching or substantially growing a high-end hospitality operation, rather than experience solely maintaining an already established property.
While appointed together, these are two distinct senior positions with clearly defined areas of responsibility.
General Manager
The General Manager will hold overall responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring an exceptional hospitality background combined with strong commercial acumen and proven business-building experience. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate where they have previously helped develop or grow a hospitality business, including the commercial results achieved and their own contribution to that success.
The GM will have full responsibility for the P&L (Profit & Loss), budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost control and overall commercial performance of the property.
Alongside this, they will lead the wider operation, establishing the systems, procedures and service standards required to create an outstanding guest experience and a robust, scalable business. Responsibilities will encompass staffing and team development, housekeeping, maintenance, suppliers and contractors, guest experience and the smooth day-to-day operation of the estate.
The successful candidate will be commercially astute, entrepreneurial and capable of identifying opportunities to strengthen the guest proposition, improve operational performance and contribute to the long-term growth, reputation and profitability of the business.
Executive Chef
The Executive Chef will have complete responsibility for developing and delivering the estate’s culinary offering, with food expected to become an important part of both the guest experience and the property’s wider reputation.
The role requires considerable versatility. Guests may range from private families and groups enjoying relaxed weekends to corporate clients hosting executive retreats and events. The Chef must therefore be equally accomplished at delivering outstanding informal dining as they are at delivering sophisticated dinners, events and completely bespoke culinary experiences.
Menus should be seasonal, produce-led and adaptable, supported by excellent sourcing, strong supplier relationships and an accomplished understanding of dietary, nutritional and wellness requirements.
The Executive Chef will manage the kitchen as a disciplined commercial operation, with responsibility for menu development, purchasing, suppliers, stock control, food costs, agreed budgets and accurate kitchen accounts. Overall financial responsibility for the business and its P&L will remain firmly with the General Manager.
We would particularly welcome a Chef who has helped establish or develop the culinary identity of a successful luxury hospitality business, and who understands the role an exceptional food offering can play in driving reputation, repeat business, and the overall guest proposition.
