Housekeeper – Knightsbridge

£45,000.00|Knightsbridge, London|Permanent, Live-in/Live-out

An experienced housekeeper is required for a position based in Knightsbridge. UK properties include a large London residence and a spectacular countryside estate approximately 50 minutes from Central London.

The family travel during all school holidays, typically between the USA and the Caribbean. Frequent overseas travel is not expected, however, candidates are required to state their ability to travel at the application stage.

The principals have children who mostly attend boarding schools with just one child at home during term-time. A full-time Live-in Governess/Tutor is in place, although all applicants must be extremely child-friendly.

The selected housekeeper will be looking for a long-term position with a warm, welcoming and appreciative family. All staff, including domestic staff, estate management, groundsmen and a personal assistant have been with the household for many years and we are looking for the right candidate who is hoping to achieve longevity with the household.

Applicants are welcome to Live-in or Live-out. Accommodation including en-suite or own bathroom is available within the main house at both locations. Both properties are large with separate staff accommodation available.

Hours (term-time with family in res)

  • 5-days per week (Tue & Wed off) approx 8am – 6pm

Responsibilities

  • Housekeeping & laundry
  • Organising dry cleaning
  • Wardrobe management and seasonal rotation of garments
  • Errand running/assisting the principals personal assistant
  • Ironing and steaming
  • Maintaining fresh and artificial floral arrangements
  • Dusting and general tidying
  • Travelling between London & Surrey as required
  • Preparation of drinks for the family as required
  • Walking the dog (labrador)
  • Liaise with the head housekeeper
  • Deep cleaning when the family are travelling

Key requirements

  • Previous private household or 5* hotel experience
  • A flexible and proactive approach
  • Vaccine passport preferred
  • DBS check
  • Team-player approach
  • Impeccable housekeeping standards
  • Knowledge of delicate surfaces (marble, stone floors etc)
  • Experience in handwashing and vintage wardrobe care
