Working closely with the Estate Manager, this role ensures exceptional standards, seamless coordination, and consistent service delivery across all properties. This is a hands-on position that requires excellent housekeeping and the ability to lead by example.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Housekeeping Leadership & Standards
- Direct daily housekeeping operations across the London residence and additional overseas homes.
- Uphold impeccable standards of cleanliness, presentation, and organisation throughout all areas.
- Develop, implement, and maintain detailed housekeeping procedures to ensure uniformity across locations.
- Carry out regular property inspections to guarantee standards are consistently exceeded.
Team Management & Scheduling
- Lead, support, and motivate a housekeeping team working across a 7‑day schedule.
- Create and manage weekly/monthly rotas, staffing plans, and annual leave schedules.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and continuous training of housekeeping staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
Operational Coordination
- Plan and supervise deep cleans, seasonal rotations, and special housekeeping projects.
- Manage departmental budgets and oversee procurement of supplies, linens, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventories of household stock, uniforms, and cleaning materials.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all properties, including travel support and temporary cover.
Travel & Multi‑Residence Support
- Travel with the principals as required to ensure smooth housekeeping operations abroad.
- Prepare residences ahead of arrivals, ensuring full readiness and presentation.
- Collaborate with local teams and external contractors in international locations.
Laundry & Wardrobe Support
- Oversee laundry operations, ensuring correct care of delicate and high‑value garments.
- Implement best practices for garment care, storage, and wardrobe organisation in partnership with the Wardrobe Manager.
- Assist with packing/unpacking for the Lady of the House.
- Attend in‑house tailoring appointments when required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all housekeeping practices meet health and safety regulations.
- Oversee safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain strict hygiene protocols across all areas of the household.
Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Estate Manager and other department heads (Butler, Wardrobe, Maintenance, Security).
- Liaise with principals to understand preferences and deliver personalised service.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors as needed.
Key requirements
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience as a Housekeeping Manager within a UHNW household or luxury hospitality environment.
- Confidently preparing daily task lists, staff schedules, and annual holiday planning.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams within a 7‑day operational structure.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and prioritisation abilities.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and service orientation.
- Flexible and willing to work weekends and travel internationally at short notice.
- Strong knowledge of luxury materials, finishes, and specialist cleaning techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple properties and competing priorities simultaneously.
